Senyo Hosi Assures Ghanaians of Stable Fuel Supply Amid Middle East Tensions

March 10,2026

Economic Policy Analyst Senyo Hosi has assured Ghanaians that the country is not facing an immediate risk of fuel shortages despite rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

Speaking on TV programme monitored by vistanewsgh on Monday, March 9, Hosi explained that Ghana’s petroleum supply chain is largely insulated from developments in the conflict-prone Middle East region.

“For us in Ghana, I don’t think there is so much to be alarmed about,” he said during the interview.

According to him, Ghana’s major petroleum supply routes originate mainly from Europe and the United States Gulf region, areas that are not directly affected by the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

Hosi further noted that Ghana’s domestic crude production, combined with petroleum supplies from Nigeria and output from the Dangote Refinery, provides additional support for fuel availability within the region.

He added that Europe continues to serve as a dependable trading partner while increasing production from the US Gulf is expected to further stabilize fuel supply for countries such as Ghana.

His comments come amid concerns over recent disruptions in fuel loading operations at the Tema Port.

Earlier, Group Chief Executive Officer of GOIL PLC, Edward Bawa, announced that technical issues affecting operations at the port had been resolved, allowing fuel loading activities to resume.

In a brief update shared on social media on Monday, March 9, Bawa confirmed that normal operations had been restored following a temporary disruption.

Prior to this development, both GOIL PLC and Star Oil Ghana had raised concerns about possible fuel supply challenges, attributing the issue to the Integrated Customs Management System operated by Ghana Link Network Services Ltd..

However, the company dismissed reports suggesting that the system had been down since March 6, describing the claims as “false, misleading, and wholly without basis.”

The clarification and reassurance from industry players and analysts are expected to calm public concerns about fuel availability in the country.
