Invisible Hands Gun Battle Erupts Over NDC 'Green Book' During Abura Asebu Kwamankese Polls
July 2,2026
The ongoing branch elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese Constituency of the Central Region have reportedly been marred by unprecedented violence, resulting in heightened tensions within the constituency.
On Thursday morning, branch elections were scheduled to take place at the Bosome Polling Station. According to reports from the scene, a group of individuals allegedly linked to supporters of the District Chief Executive (DCE), Daniel Mensah Wardy, and the Member of Parliament, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, stormed the polling station demanding possession of the party's membership register, popularly known as the "Green Book."
Eyewitnesses claim that election officials and party members resisted the demand. However, the situation reportedly escalated when gunshots were fired, creating panic and enabling the individuals to seize the Green Book before leaving the scene.
If confirmed, this would mark the first time the constituency's internal party elections have been characterized by such levels of violence, raising serious concerns about the safety of members and the integrity of the electoral process.
In light of these developments, there is an urgent need for the Regional Executive Committee of the NDC to intervene by engaging the leadership of all factions in the constituency. Constructive dialogue and decisive action are essential to de-escalate tensions, restore confidence in the electoral process, and preserve the unity and reputation of the party.
If this is intended as a public statement, it's advisable to attribute allegations (e.g., "according to eyewitnesses" or "it is alleged") unless there is verified evidence, to avoid presenting unverified claims as established fact.
