rCOMSDEP Disassociates Itself from Fraudulent Agents, Warns Public Against Impostors

February 19,2026

The Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) has distanced itself from individuals and groups fraudulently posing as its agents and regional coordinators across the country.

In a press release dated February 19, 2026, the Programme disclosed that certain persons are falsely claiming to represent the Secretariat and are allegedly extorting money from miners and other stakeholders. These individuals reportedly promise to facilitate access to mineralised areas for responsible cooperative mining.

rCOMSDEP described such actions as criminal and a violation of the laws of the Republic of Ghana.

The Secretariat stated unequivocally that it does not operate through, nor has it appointed, any agents, representatives, intermediaries, regional coordinators, or district coordinators in any part of the country.

It further clarified that:

  • No individual or group is authorised to collect payments, fees, or levies on behalf of rCOMSDEP.

  • No appointments have been made for the positions of “Regional Coordinator,” “District Coordinator,” or any similar designation.

According to the statement, anyone presenting themselves in such capacities is an impostor acting without the mandate of the Programme.

The public has therefore been advised to refrain from engaging with such self-appointed agents, warning that any dealings with them will be at the individual’s own risk. rCOMSDEP stressed that it will not be liable for any losses or damages resulting from such engagements.

The Programme also cautioned that persons found to be involved in these illegal activities will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The statement was signed by the National Coordinator, Ama Mawusi Mawuenyefia, who urged stakeholders to rely only on official communication channels for information regarding responsible cooperative mining activities.
