BOST Rejects Fuel Contamination Claims at Kumasi Depot

June 23, 2026

BOST Energies Limited has dismissed reports alleging fuel contamination at its Kumasi Depot, describing the claims as false, inaccurate, and misleading.

In a statement issued on Monday, the company clarified that the incident at the center of the reports involved a tanker truck with registration number GN 8887-18, which was suspected of transporting adulterated petroleum products to the depot.

According to BOST Energies, anomalies in the product were detected during routine operational and quality assurance checks conducted by depot personnel. The company said immediate control measures were implemented to prevent the product from entering its storage and distribution systems.

The statement explained that samples of the fuel were subsequently taken for internal testing, which revealed that the product did not meet the required quality specifications.

To verify the findings, additional samples were submitted to an independent third-party laboratory for further analysis. The external assessment reportedly confirmed that the fuel was off-specification.

Following the confirmation, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) was formally notified, and the tanker truck was immediately impounded in accordance with regulatory requirements. BOST Energies indicated that appropriate regulatory and administrative actions are being pursued against both the tanker driver and the transporter involved.

The company emphasized that the detection of the substandard fuel demonstrates the effectiveness of its quality assurance systems and operational controls.

“At no point did the incident compromise the integrity of products within the depot’s storage and distribution system, as no litre of product was discharged from the vehicle,” the statement stressed.

BOST Energies therefore urged the public to disregard reports suggesting that fuel contamination occurred at the Kumasi Depot, maintaining that such assertions do not accurately reflect the facts surrounding the incident.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and operational excellence across its facilities and pledged continued collaboration with regulatory authorities to safeguard the integrity of petroleum products throughout the supply chain.
