The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Mahama, yesterday addressed the nation from the Jubilee House in Accra, providing a comprehensive update on the country’s current state of affairs. The event, which was attended by journalists from across the country, also featured remote participation via digital platforms for members of the press based outside the capital.
This inaugural edition of the President’s “Meet the Press” series enabled an open dialogue on issues of national interest. Key topics covered included the economy, exchange rate stability, foreign policy, national security, education, road infrastructure, energy, and the rule of law.
In response to a question from Rich FM’s representative, the President announced that advanced plans are underway for the dualization of several major highways, including the Accra–Takoradi, Kintampo–Bole, and Accra–Kumasi routes. These projects are intended to boost economic activity and promote tourism across the country.
On the issue of exchange rate fluctuations, President Mahama acknowledged the recent marginal increases but assured that measures implemented by the Bank of Ghana have overall contributed to monetary stability. He emphasized that market mechanisms are currently in play and urged traders not to be alarmed, as regulatory steps are being reinforced to manage volatility.
The President also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to combating corruption, stating that all reported cases will be prosecuted and stolen assets recovered. He commended the Ghana Gold Board for its role in strengthening the national economy.
