According to Gurman, Robby Walker, Apple's senior director of Siri, showed off the "working" status of some of the personalized Siri features at a recent all-hands meeting of the Siri team. Walker showed the technology in action: Siri was able to follow instructions to find his driver's license number and also find a photo of a specific child. Siri also has the ability to use your voice to precisely control apps, such as embedding content in messages, adding recipients, and making other modifications.

However, Walker says these features are currently only working "about two-thirds to 80 percent of the time." The task facing Apple is to ensure that these features not only work, but also work well in order to get them to consumers.

Apple said it expects to roll out personalized Siri features "in the coming year," but did not give a more specific timeline. Once rolled out, Siri's upgrades will include an understanding of the user's personal context, screen awareness, and deeper in-app control. For example, during the keynote at the 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple showed an iPhone user querying their mother's flight and lunch reservation plans through Siri, based on data in the Mail and Messages app.

IT Home noted that Apple mentioned in the supplementary note on its iPhone 16 product page that Siri's personal contextual understanding, screen awareness, and in-app action features are in development and will be available through future software updates. Gurman said the features are "not expected to roll out until next year at the earliest," while recent reports from Reuters and CNBC also mention a 2026 timeframe. If this is the case, then these Siri features may not be released until iOS 19.4 or later.
