President Mahama Arrives in China For Global Women Conference

Mahama in Beijing for Global Women's Meeting, Investment Talks

President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama have arrived in Beijing, China, to attend a Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, while also pursuing investment opportunities for Ghana.

The meeting, scheduled for October 13-14 and hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping and UN Women, will bring together world leaders to renew commitments from the 1995 Beijing Declaration and accelerate its implementation. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the United Nations and the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women.

Beyond championing women's empowerment, President Mahama's visit will focus on strengthening Ghana-China relations and attracting investment. He is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang of the State Council.

The Ghanaian leader will also meet with Chinese business leaders and host a Presidential Investment Forum designed to connect Ghanaian businesses with Chinese counterparts and investors to explore opportunities in Ghana. President Mahama will visit Fujian Province to engage with businesses that have a presence in Ghana.

The presidential delegation includes Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, along with officials from the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Free Zones Authority, and Ghana Export Promotion Authority.

Other cabinet members in the delegation are Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Roads and Highways Minister Kwame Agbodza, and Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Ampem Nyarko.

Senior presidential staff accompanying the delegation include Executive Secretary Dr Callistus Mahama, Presidential Advisor Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim, and Presidential Staffer Nana Yaa Gyantuah.

The engagements are expected to strengthen the long-standing partnership between Ghana and China and promote greater cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
