DVLA Releases 2026 DV Trade Licence Plates

January 4,2026

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced the release of the 2026 Trade Licence plates, commonly known as DV plates, for eligible users across the country.

According to the Authority, the plates have been issued to garage operators, vehicle manufacturers, and vehicle dealers who successfully applied following a public notice issued on November 19, 2025, inviting applications for the 2026 trade licences. Each DV plate has been issued at a cost of GH¢417.25.

The DVLA clarified that DV plates are strictly restricted to approved users and are intended solely for specific purposes, including moving vehicles for repairs, fixing defects, test-driving by potential buyers, and other limited uses involving vehicles in the custody of licensed operators.

The Authority cautioned that misuse of DV plates outside their approved purposes is not permitted, reaffirming its commitment to road safety and regulatory compliance.

The announcement was issued on February 4, 2026, as part of the DVLA’s ongoing efforts to regulate vehicle movement and ensure safety on Ghana’s roads.
