NDC Summons MP Over Viral Video Comments

The National Democratic Congress has summoned Member of Parliament for Chiana-Paga, Hon. Nikyema Billa Alamzy, to appear before the party's Functional Executive Committee over comments he made in a viral video.

The MP appeared in a video on GH One TV where he questioned the rationale for "thank you tours" by party leadership in his constituency and made other remarks that the party leadership found concerning.

In a letter dated September 29, 2025, and signed by Hon. Emmanuel Zumakpeh, Director of Administration, the party has invited the MP to appear on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the NDC Party Headquarters in Adabraka, Accra.

The letter states: "The attention of the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) has been drawn to a widely circulated video recording from the studio of GH One TV, in which you were heard questioning the rationale for any 'thank you tour' by the leadership of the Party in your constituency, as well as making other remarks which did not sit well with the leadership of the Party."

The party is requesting clarification and further explanation from the lawmaker regarding his comments. The Regional Chairman of the NDC Upper East has also been invited to accompany the MP to the meeting.

Copies of the summons were sent to the Regional Chairman NDC Upper East, the Constituency Chairman NDC Chiana-Paga, and the Majority Leader at Parliament House, Accra.

The MP is expected to clarify his position and explain his comments at Tuesday's meeting.
