The Embassy of Ghana in the United States has officially confirmed the arrest and detention of Mrs. Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu by U.S. authorities.

In a statement dated 15 January 2026 and addressed to all media houses, the Embassy disclosed that Mrs. Tamakloe-Attionu is currently being held at the Nevada Southern Detention Center, located at 2190 East Mesquite Avenue, Pahrump, Nevada.

According to the Embassy, Mrs. Tamakloe-Attionu was arrested by the United States Marshals Service on January 6, 2026, acting on an extradition request submitted to U.S. authorities in July 2024. She has since remained in detention as she awaits her appearance in court.

The statement, signed by Victor Emmanuel Smith, Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, indicated that the arrest and detention are directly linked to the pending extradition process.

While the Embassy did not provide further details on the specific charges or the timeline for court proceedings, it confirmed that Mrs. Tamakloe-Attionu is being lawfully detained in accordance with U.S. legal procedures.
