Ned Nwoko Responds to Domestic Violence Claims, Alleges Wife Regina Daniels Battling Drug Addiction

October 20, 2025 Nigerian lawmaker Ned Nwoko has publicly addressed allegations of domestic violence made by his wife, actress Regina Daniels, claiming instead that she is struggling with substance abuse issues that have caused turmoil in their marriage.

The controversy erupted after Daniels, 25, released a viral video on Saturday in which she accused the 64-year-old Delta North Senator of severe physical assault, stating she could no longer tolerate the abuse in their marriage.

Lawmaker Denies Violence Allegations

In a strongly worded statement posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account Sunday, Mr. Nwoko denied the domestic violence claims and characterized his wife's behavior in the video as "unprovoked carnage and rampage."

The senator attributed Daniels' recent conduct to what he described as ongoing battles with drug and alcohol addiction, claiming this substance abuse is the fundamental issue affecting their relationship.

"Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem. She must continue her rehabilitation program, or I fear for her life and safety. Now she has moved to a place where she will have unrestricted access to drugs," Mr. Nwoko wrote.

Counter-Allegations of Violent Behavior

The lawmaker turned the accusations around, alleging that Daniels herself has exhibited violent behavior toward household staff and has caused property damage.

"I have other wives, and none will ever accuse me of violence. Regina is the violent one here, slapping and hitting three staff in the past 48 hours and destroying property, including cars and windows, for no just cause," he claimed in his statement.

Mr. Nwoko stated that he has set conditions requiring Daniels to accept rehabilitation treatment either in Asokoro or abroad, specifically mentioning Jordan as a potential location where she would have limited access to drugs.

Allegations Against Associate

The senator also made serious allegations against an individual identified as Sammy West, who has been presented as Daniels' brother. Mr. Nwoko claimed that West is actually the actress's drug supplier and has orchestrated disruptive incidents at their residence.

According to Premium Times Nigeria, West had earlier alleged via Instagram that Mr. Nwoko physically assaulted Daniels and sent thugs to harass her family, maintaining it was not the first such incident.

Mr. Nwoko further alleged that Daniels threatened their resident nurse after the medical professional allegedly exposed her drug use.

Marriage Background

Regina Daniels and Ned Nwoko married in 2019 when she was 19 years old, making her his sixth wife. The couple has two children together.

The marriage initially attracted significant public attention due to the 39-year age gap between the pair and Nwoko's polygamous household. Despite occasional social media drama, the couple had generally presented a united front publicly until this recent escalation.

Recent Social Media Activity

The domestic violence allegations surfaced just weeks after Daniels shared what appeared to be a lighthearted prank video featuring her husband on Instagram. The clip showed Mr. Nwoko walking in on her in the restroom while suggestive music played, seemingly irritating him. However, he later left a playful comment on the post, writing, "This wife of my old, as I call her. Come here."

No Response from Actress

As of press time, Regina Daniels has not publicly responded to her husband's allegations regarding substance abuse or his characterization of events at their residence.

The serious nature of the allegations from both parties has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many Nigerians expressing concern about the welfare of both individuals and calling for proper investigation into the conflicting claims.

The controversy highlights ongoing conversations about domestic violence, substance abuse, and the complexities of polygamous marriages in contemporary Nigerian society.
