Condom Prices Could Jump by 30% as Iran War Disrupts Global Supply Chains

April 22,2026

Karex, the world’s largest producer of condoms, has signaled a potential 20% to 30% increase in prices as ongoing disruptions from the Iran war continue to strain global supply chains.

Speaking to Reuters, CEO Goh Miah Kiat explained that rising costs in raw materials, manufacturing, and logistics are leaving the company with little option but to pass the added expenses on to consumers.

He noted that the situation remains unstable, particularly due to disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, a key global trade route. The conflict has limited access to vital petrochemical materials such as naphtha, silicon oil, and ammonia critical components in condom production and packaging.

Karex, headquartered in Malaysia, manufactures billions of condoms annually and distributes them across more than 130 countries under brands including ONE, Trustex, Carex, and Pasante. While the company still has short-term supply, shipping delays are already causing concern, with products stuck in transit.

Industry experts highlight that the crisis is not limited to fuel prices. Shortages of petrochemical feedstocks are driving up production costs worldwide, especially in Asia, where many countries depend heavily on Middle Eastern resources.

Additionally, fuel shortages and rising transport costs in parts of Southeast Asia are affecting factory operations, as workers struggle to commute, potentially slowing production further.

Analysts caution that if the situation persists, consumers may face higher prices for everyday goods, alongside broader economic impacts.
