High Court Halts ‘Celebration of Life’ Event Over Family Dispute
March 25,2026
The High Court of Ghana has granted an interlocutory injunction restraining the organisation of a planned “Celebration of Life” event linked to a dispute within the Akuana Royal Family.
The order follows an application filed by the Head of Family, Victor Kofi Owusu, who represents the Akuana Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta.
According to a statement issued by Baba Jamal & Associates, the court ruling specifically bars individuals including Nana Yaw Akosa, Akosua Serwaa Schindler, Ernestina Fosuh, and Wofa Yaw Poku, as well as their agents, from organising or participating in the event.
The event had been scheduled to take place on March 28 and 29, 2026, at Independence Square or any other location.
The court’s decision effectively stops all preparations and activities related to the event, with organisers, venue providers, and participants warned against defying the order.
Legal representatives cautioned that any breach of the injunction would constitute contempt of court, an offence punishable under Ghanaian law.
The law firm further indicated that it would not hesitate to initiate committal proceedings against any individual who disregards the court’s directive.
The statement also called for calm and urged respect for the family and its children amid the ongoing dispute.
