UCC Council Appoints Prof. Denis Aheto as Interim Vice-Chancellor

The Governing Council of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Denis Worlanyo Aheto, as Interim Vice-Chancellor of the university.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the Council on September 24, 2025, and communicated in an official notice signed by Registrar and Council Secretary, Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye, Esq. The Council explained that the appointment was in line with directives from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).

According to the notice, the interim arrangement is to ensure smooth administrative continuity following the end of tenure or removal of the substantive Vice-Chancellor.

“The University remains stable, and both academic and administrative activities will continue without disruption under the new interim leadership,” the statement assured stakeholders.

Prof. Aheto, who has served as Pro Vice-Chancellor, will hold the fort until the formal process to appoint a substantive Vice-Chancellor is concluded.
