A family member of the wife of former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korle constituency, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, has alleged that he attacked his wife following her decision to seek a divorce.
Speaking to the media which was monitored by vistanewsgh.com, a spokesperson for the wife’s family, David Gyapanin, claimed that the incident occurred after a disagreement between the couple at their residence in Pennsylvania, United States.
According to the family, Nii Noi Nortey allegedly issued threats after his wife indicated she wanted to end the marriage. The situation reportedly escalated into a violent domestic incident, during which the woman sustained multiple injuries.
Mr. Gyapanin stated that the victim was later allowed to leave the residence to seek medical attention after she reportedly assured her husband she would not immediately pursue legal action. He confirmed that she has since undergone surgery and is currently in stable condition.
The family has expressed deep shock over the incident and raised concerns about the former parliamentary candidate’s mental state. They also disclosed that the couple’s five children have been separated and are currently under the care of family members.
“We are still struggling to understand how a disagreement could escalate to this level,” Mr. Gyapanin said, adding that the family is hopeful justice will be served.
As of now, the family of Valentino Nii Noi Nortey has not issued any public response to the allegations.
Reports indicate that the former NPP parliamentary candidate has been remanded into prison custody after being denied bail by the Dauphin County District Magistrate Court in Pennsylvania.
According to local media outlet abc27, the 41-year-old was arrested on Saturday, January 17, 2026, by the Lower Paxton Township Police in connection with the domestic incident.
He has reportedly been charged with attempted homicide, possession of an instrument of crime with intent to use, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
Police say the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning along Mayfair Drive in Lower Paxton Township. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Monday, January 26, 2026.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
