The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Abura Asebu Kwamankese, Hon. Daniel Mensah Wardy, on Tuesday appeared before the Committee on Local Government and Rural Development of Parliament to respond to queries on the utilisation of the District Assembly Common Fund.
When asked by the committee about legacy projects undertaken with the fund, Hon. Wardy explained that part of the allocation had been used to renovate and complete the official residences of the DCE and the District Coordinating Director.
As at September 2025, the Assembly had collected Internally Generated Funds (IGF) amounting to GHS 556,834.17, compared to GHS 530,000 in 2024. He also disclosed that the Assembly had received two tranches of the District Assembly Common Fund, totalling GHS 6,392,519.09.
Despite these disclosures, Hon. Wardy’s responses appeared unsatisfactory to some members of the committee. At one point, he requested the District Coordinating Director to provide further clarification, a move that drew criticism from the committee.
One member remarked: “Mr. DCE, you do not know what you have done? I think the technocrats in the Central Region must up their game.”
The exchange, observers noted, raised questions about the DCE’s grasp of financial and developmental matters in his district.
Nonetheless, Hon. Wardy assured the committee that all ongoing legacy projects in the district would be completed.
