The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has constituted a three-member committee to investigate allegations of inducement and vote-buying during the party’s parliamentary primaries held in the Ayawaso East constituency.
In a statement issued by the NDC National Secretariat on Saturday, February 7, 2026, the party said the decision follows earlier reports of widespread inducement and vote-buying during the primaries conducted the same day.
According to the statement, the investigative committee will be chaired by Mr. Kofi Totobi Quakyi, with Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga and legal practitioner Emefa Fugah serving as members.
The committee has been tasked to thoroughly investigate the allegations and is expected to submit its findings and recommendations by Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
The party noted that the committee’s mandate includes making appropriate recommendations, including sanctions where necessary, as well as proposing sustainable measures and reforms to decisively eliminate inducement and vote-buying in the party’s internal electoral processes.
Reaffirming its commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and ethical political conduct, the NDC assured its members, stakeholders, and the general public that it remains determined to uphold the highest standards of integrity in its internal elections.
The party has therefore urged its members and supporters to remain calm and cooperate fully with the committee as it undertakes its work, assuring that further updates will be communicated in due course.
