The Public Accounts Committee (PAC), working in close collaboration with the Auditor-General, has announced the recovery of over GH¢12.9 billion in misappropriated public funds.
The funds were retrieved following weeks of hearings with officials from ministries, departments, and agencies cited in the 2024 Auditor-General’s Report for various financial irregularities.
PAC Chairperson, Abena Osei-Asare, confirmed the milestone on Wednesday, October 1, stressing that accountability and transparency remain at the heart of the Committee’s mandate.
“What we are doing is yielding positive results. Per the work of the Public Accounts Committee, and with the support of the Auditor-General, we have been able to retrieve GH¢12.9 billion. There is a report on that which will be shared with the public at the right time,” she said.
The Committee is set to resume its next round of public sittings on October 27, 2025, as it continues efforts to recover funds and enforce financial discipline in the public sector.
