The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested a notorious female drug dealer and several other suspects during an intelligence-led operation in Budumburam and surrounding communities in the Central Region.
The operation, carried out in the early hours of Friday, January 16, 2026, targeted suspected drug dens and distribution points as part of NACOC’s ongoing nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking and substance abuse.
In a statement issued on January 17, NACOC confirmed that among those arrested was a 32-year-old woman identified as Rebecca Afia Naa Dei Kotei, popularly known as “Mother.” She was described by opinion leaders as a key figure in the local drug trade who had previously evaded arrest.
According to NACOC officials, the suspect is believed to be a central player in a drug distribution network operating within Budumburam and its environs, allegedly coordinating both retail-level sales and supply chains.
During the operation, officers seized large quantities of suspected cannabis, tramadol, and other controlled substances, along with items believed to be linked to drug peddling activities.
NACOC stated that investigations are ongoing, and all suspects will be processed for court in accordance with the law. The Commission also indicated that further operations are expected as it intensifies efforts to curb drug-related crime in the region.
