2028 Elections: Ghanaians Want a Younger Person as President – Mussa Dankwah
September 27, 2025
Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, has revealed that a majority of Ghanaians prefer a younger leader to occupy the presidency in the upcoming 2028 general elections.
Speaking on TV3’s Key Points on Saturday, Mr. Dankwah said findings from his outfit’s latest poll showed that 64 percent of respondents want a younger candidate who can reflect the energy and aspirations of the country’s youthful population.
“The respondents want somebody who is young. They are looking at the recent past Nana Akufo-Addo was 73 when he became president but the people want someone who reflects their youthful exuberance,” he explained.
When asked to define what respondents meant by “young,” Mr. Dankwah said his team did not specify an age bracket. “I will go back to the public and ask them what they mean by young,” he noted.
Reacting to the survey on the same programme, private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu described the outcome as encouraging.
“It is heartwarming to see that the majority of the people agree we should have young leaders. The older people have had their time; they should allow the younger ones to take over,” Mr. Kpebu said.
The findings highlight a potential generational shift in voter expectations as Ghana heads toward the 2028 elections, with growing calls for leadership that resonates with the country’s predominantly youthful demographic.
