January 25, 2026

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has strongly denied reports circulating in sections of the media alleging that about 60 per cent of applicants who underwent military medical screening were found to be HIV positive.

In a press release issued by the Department of Public Relations at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp, the Armed Forces described the publication as fake news and urged the public to disregard it entirely.

According to the statement, the medical screening process for applicants is still ongoing and no official results have been declared. GAF emphasized that claims suggesting widespread medical failure attributed to HIV are false and misleading.

“The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to state categorically that the publication is fake news and should be ignored by all,” the statement said.

The Armed Forces further disclosed that steps are being taken to trace the originators of the alleged misinformation, which it described as mischievous and harmful.
